Neptunes Meet #1 at Hampden Heights

Hello Neptune Families!

First - thank you all for patience and great spirits at swim practice these last two days! Kids are excited and nervous to SWIM at our first regular season meet at Hampden Heights tomorrow - with a sunny forecast for the morning and potential thunderstorm in the afternoon. So come PREPARED for it all!

We have alot to share, so please be sure to read the ENTIRE email. We know you seasoned parents think you don't need to read the same old email, but you never know when we have new information to share with you :-)

Huge thanks to wonderful volunteers Kory Foa and Christy Stickley for organizing the fabulous Kick-Off Dinner...to parents who came to the meeting...coaches who motivated swimmers...and picking up your gear! Make sure to wear your team hats tomorrow.

ABOUT MEET #1

What/Where: Hampden Heights Pool located a couple of blocks north of Hampden on Dayton, 3311 S Dayton St, Denver, 80231; see map for directions. 

Parking: they have a good sized parking lot right in front of the pool. If the lot is full, additional parking can be found on the neighborhood streets surrounding the pool. As always, be a good neighbor and leave clearance at people's driveways.

When: Saturday, June 1

Meet timeline:

7:15 - 7:45 Cherry Knolls swimmers warm up

7:25 Scratch Meeting for Parent Reps

7:45 Stagers and Heaters start to heat all relays through event 12. Please get the little ones behind the blocks for the first relays.

7:45 Coaches Meeting, Stroke Judge Meeting, Timer meeting at the guard shack with our Starter Ref. Stroke Judges and Timers for both shifts should attend.

7:55 National anthem

8:00 Meet starts!

Setup: Just inside their fence is a large grassy area (next to the baby pool) where we can set up our tents and gathering areas. They use their baby pool for the heating area. There will be trash and recycle bins in the area for us. 

Results: They will have the Meet Program and all results available online via Meet Mobile app. They will also post results at the front of the pool, on their Guard Shack, after each series of events is completed and the times are verified.

Parents:

If your swimmer is sick and will not be able to participate tomorrow, please text or call Coach Isabelle at (720)771-7884 by 7 a.m., so that events and relays can be adjusted.

VOLUNTEERS come to our team tent before 7:30 a.m. to pick up your sticker from the Volunteer Coordinator, which identifies you and the volunteer shift you will be working. It is imperative you do this, so we know all shifts are covered! Please ask a Parent Rep of Ashley Weldon if you have volunteer questions in the morning. If you are a floater check in to see where you're needed!

Have your swimmers under the tents with caps and goggles! If they are not in staging/heating, they will miss their events. 

Don’t forget to pack chairs (Mom & Dad), sleeping bag, a tarp to put under the sleeping bag, extra towels, sunscreen, healthy snacks and drinks and money! They will have  concessions open for the meet. 

Additionally, if your child is a Buddy Captain, please make sure they bring their card or equivalent to the meet and give it to their "Buddy Family" members.
