2022 Cherry Knolls Swim Team Prelims/Finals

Are you interested in having your swimmer participate in Prelims and Finals? Below is useful information, please read carefully.

Prelims/Finals meet entry opens today @ 5pm via Swimmingly and will close on July 5th @ 10a.m. FIRM DEADLINE

Some things to consider when making the decision to participate in prelims:

• You are making the commitment to be available to attend finals on Saturday, July 16th, should your swimmer qualify for individual and/or relay events. If you know that you and your swimmer cannot attend finals, please do not sign up to swim in prelims. Many of our relay teams do go to finals each year!
• For finals, the top 18 swimmers are taken from prelims to participate in the finals meet (16 swimmers and 2 alternates) for each event.
• Cherry Knolls does not require swimmers to have a certain qualifying time to participate in prelims. We encourage your swimmer to participate if they want to, and it is a great experience. If you are looking at qualifying times, we suggest you look at the finals times from last year that are posted on the RMSL website.
• A note about relays: In past years, we have been able to add alternates to the relays. This year RMSL is only going to allow us to put our actual swimmers into the relays. The only rule is that each swimmer can ONLY swim in 1 medley relay and 1 freestyle relay. This means that if we swim up a swimmer on one of those relays in prelims, they cannot swim in that relay again for their age group in that prelim or another prelim meet. This is the same rule for regular season meets. For finals, the same rule applies, the only difference being if we now use them as a sub. For example, if a swimmer is in a relay in prelims that doesn't go to finals and we need a sub for a relay in finals (their age group or to swim up), that swimmer can swim in the relay as long as it is only in 1 medley relay and 1 freestyle relay total in finals.

Volunteering

• RMSL assigns each team multiple volunteer shifts for each event, so we need your help!
• You must fulfill at least one volunteer shift for prelims events. If you have multiple swimmers in multiple meets, you are obligated to fulfill one shift for the week. We will do our best to limit to one shift during the week, but it’s not always possible depending on how many swimmers participate in each age group.
• If your swimmer qualifies for finals, you must also fulfill another volunteer shift at the Finals meet on Saturday.

Steps to signing in/out of prelims:

1. Please log-in to Swimmingly and select the Prelims Meet that corresponds to the age group of your swimmer(s) found after selecting the “Meet Schedule” button on the left. (It is the same place you sign up for regular meets.) Here are the instructions just in case you are having any problems (support.swimmingly.app/how-do-i-complete-meet-declarations).

2. Select up to 3 events for each swimmer. RMSL has waived the 2 meet requirement for prelims and finals, so that is not a requirement to enter prelims for this year only. This means any swimmer is eligible to swim in prelims.

Prelims/Finals Meet Entry: Please be careful to go under the correct age group meet in order to sign your swimmer up. Also note that the events are the same as in the regular season dual meets, but they are numbered differently in the prelims. The events will be back to the normal numbering order at finals. The prelim entries will be open until Tuesday, July 5th at 10am, firm deadline. The Prelims and Finals meets are as follows:

3. If you have decided not to participate in prelims, please log-in and sign your swimmers out.

4. Once you have signed your swimmers in and selected events in Swimmingly go into Swimtopia and select a volunteer position for one of the meets you’ll be attending. If you don’t sign-up, a shift for a meet will be assigned to you.
